That time when… I thought the CIA was requisitioning my car

It was an ordinary day on yet another long commute. I had my phone plugged in so I could rock out to one of my Spotify playlists. It’s how I survive.

So there I was, singing along, seat-dancing like I do. And all of a sudden, the music stopped and a loud siren-y wail filled my car. I ceased dancing, looking around at the other cars. Were we all getting this noise?

Or was it just me?

Was the CIA going to come through my speakers, telling me they needed to requisition my car? I could just hear it… “Please step out of your car and surrender your keys to the man who will arrive on the left in 30 seconds.”

When the noise didn’t stop, I grabbed my phone to see if it had something to say about it.

It did. It was an amber alert.

It’s a new thing for iPhone users. When there’s an amber alert in the area, it gets pushed to the iPhones of those in the area. It’s a cool feature, really. Because I’m more than willing to keep an eye out for some scumbag who snatches a kid. Give me the license plate number and I’m all over it.

I’m just not a fan of the noise my phone makes to alert me. Especially when my phone is plugged into my car so the sound echoes through my speakers.

But at least it wasn’t the CIA.

This time.

Me too! And lucky they thought to involve us and our devious crime-fighting minds. 😉
