long live… the ghosts of union soldiers?

I was siting in my car today, waiting at a stoplight. Having just visited the Starbucks drive-thru, the delicious scent of coffee was just beginning to drift through my car as I chatted with a friend (this lady) on Luna’s bluetooth.

And then I saw them. To my left, through the window of the car next to me, three figures in blue, carrying a white flag with a red cross. They couldn’t be… and yet they were… Union soldiers.

Um.

No one else seemed to think anything strange was happening. Did they not see the Civil War soldiers marching down the side of the highway? I couldn’t help myself—I started cracking up.

“Oh. My. Gosh. You would not believe what I’m looking at right now,” I told Beth. “I think they’re… re-enactors? Like Civil War. I’m not even sure what to think right now. But, um, at least they’re Union soldiers, I guess!”

Her laughter joined mine. “Well, that’s good, at least they’re from the side that won!”

“An excellent point!”

Of all the things I have encountered in traffic, that might possibly have been the strangest. I swear things like that are not the norm around here. And even my exceptional imagination hadn’t predicted a Civil War ghosts sighting on my commute.

Or maybe I’m more tired than I realize…

All I have to corroborate my story is this blurry cell phone pic I snapped before the light changed. You tell me: true re-enactors, ghosts, or a hallucination?

I say, true re-enactors. I bet the Confererates were just out of eyeshot. 😉

Whew! Lucky for me the Rebels were around the corner because I may have had a heart attack if I encountered a true battle!
